Steve Blakely is director of communications and managing editor for the Employee Benefit Research Institute, with responsibility for EBRI communications initiatives and production of EBRI publications.

Prior to joining EBRI in June 1998, Steve was senior associate editor at Nation's Business magazine, covering pension and insurance issues. His previous editorial experience includes news coverage of Congress as a reporter for Congressional Quarterly and daily newspaper coverage of national, state and local issues for the Ottaway newspaper group. He also has served as press secretary to a member of Congress and as head of public affairs for a national financial trade association. He received his undergraduate degree in journalism from Penn State University.
