Healthy Interest in a New Type of Health Account
Summary
Last year, EBRI and Greenwald Research conducted a survey to gauge
employee interest in a new type of health account similar to a health
savings account
(HSA) and found strong enthusiasm among
employees for such an account. Like an HSA, this new type of account
could be funded by employees and employers,
could be invested in the stock market,
and would be portable and follow the worker from job to job, but it
would differ from an HSA in that contributions
would be made after tax and it could be
paired with any health plan, not just one with a high deductible. This
week's
Fast Fact explores both
employer and employee interest in this
type of account as shown by survey data.
