
Katie Hockenmaier is a Partner and Senior Investment Consultant with Mercer’s Wealth group in San Francisco, in addition to serving as the US Defined Contribution Research Director. She primarily provides advice to Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit and Disability Benefit plans. Katie works with large market clients on investment structure analysis and implementation, asset allocation studies, custom fund creation and investment manager evaluations, as well as investment policy statement development.
In her role as US DC Research Director, she is responsible for developing Mercer’s intellectual capital and informing consulting advice for DC plans across all industries, including health care, education, and corporate sectors. She is a member of Mercer’s Defined Contribution Investment Committee and oversees strategic research teams covering target date funds, stable value, managed accounts and retirement income.
Katie sits on the Board of the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) and formerly sat on the the Executive Committee of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA).
Prior to joining Mercer’s Los Angeles office in 2009, Katie worked in real estate finance in the US and Hong Kong.
Katie holds a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Business Administration with concentrations in valuation finance and entrepreneurship from the University of Southern California and a minor in flute performance from the Thornton School. She holds the CIPM designation and is a CFA charterholder.
