Rich Linton is President and Chief Operating Officer for Empower. In his role, he oversees Operations, Technology, Service, Compliance, Procurement, Transformation, and Innovation for the enterprise. Additionally, Rich has oversight for Empower’s Workplace Retirement business and Empower Investments. Empower’s workplace retirement business serves plans across all sizes and market segments including corporate, not-for-profit, government, PEO, and Taft-Hartley plans. Additionally, Rich has leadership responsibility for Empower’s India and Philippines operations.
Rich joined Empower in 2016 and has 35 years of experience in the retirement and wealth management industries. Before joining Empower, he served as President of Large Corporate Markets and Retail Wealth Management for Voya Financial. There, he oversaw sales and marketing, relationship management, product development, platform management, field representative service, brokerage operations, and strategic planning.
Rich has also worked at Bank of America, where he was Managing Director of the Business Retirement Solutions Group. Prior to that, he worked at Fidelity Investments, where he served in a variety of leadership roles in operations, sales, product, client service, and general management.
Rich holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from Boston University. He serves on the board of the MA/NH chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and as Co-Chair for the Alzheimer’s Hope on the Harbor Executive Leadership Committee. Rich is a board member of the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) and is the former Board Chairman/President of the Society of Professional Asset-Managers and Recordkeepers (SPARK) and a former Board Chair for the Greater Cincinnati affiliate of the American Heart Association.
